If you must let people go, don’t just look at the paper-based performance records of those in the organization. Make sure you think about and evaluate quality of attitude as well. Particularly in a downsizing adjustment you want to make sure your remaining work population is not just the cynical ones. Retaining those with a strong positive attitude contributes greatly to organization performance. Remember: attitude before aptitude.
