Description
Engagement is not loyalty or happiness or commitment. Happy employees may not be engaged, and engaged employees may not be happy. Engagement is a connection between a company and its employees. The connection must exist on three levels for the employee: 1) rational — the employee needs to know how the company makes money; 2) emotional –- a sense of pride; and 3) motivational –-a desire to add value. Two out of three is not enough. Employees need to know what direction to move, and the motivation to move in that direction. The motivation does not come from extrinsic rewards but through leadership, inspiration, and contributing to a bigger whole. It’s involvement and collaboration, learning and growing. Engaged employees add value
