Description

Virtual Machines (VMs) in a Hyper-V system connect to a virtual network, which can then allow access to external network resources. Internal, external and private are the three main types of virtual network. Hyper-V also supports VLAN tagging for isolation of network trunk traffic. This course describes virtual networking and reviews the various virtual network types. Virtual switch operations are also covered.
A number of options exist for remotely configuring a Hyper-V server. Smaller installations will be fine with the simplicity of Hyper-V manager, and it can be installed on a different server or client machine as part of the Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT). For larger scale implementations System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) is a better fit. This course reviews the options for remotely configuring and managing a Hyper-V server. Remote administration and management using SCVMM including security considerations are also discussed.
