Description

Availability and security of user data is a challenge both within the Enterprise and for remote and mobile users. This course focuses on configuring access to and securing user data. Private data needs to be protected. Windows 8 has many traditional techniques for securing information. This course covers the use of NTFS permissions including standard file and folder permissions, special permissions, how permissions are inherited versus explicitly assigned, and the principle of effective permissions. Also discussed are the characteristics of shared folders and the process of sharing and securing files and folders on the network. Windows 8 encryption technologies including EFS and the use of BitLocker Drive Encryption is also covered.
This course applies to objectives of the 70-687: Configuring Windows 8 exam of the MCSA: Windows 8 designation.
